Preparations are in full swing; it won't be long now until we celebrate with you again! 3rd Africa Youth Day Berlin  This takes place as part of the „Upsala Africa Days“, to which the after-school care classes of the neighboring schools are also invited.

We still have a few places available; you can register your primary school-aged children for the following events (by Monday at the latest): On October 24th and 25th, 2017, from 9am to 12pm: Culinary Africa: Food connects people and brings them together. What is a yam, how do you prepare plantains, and what do different people eat? Is cooking in Africa done only over an open fire? These are some of the questions that are clearly answered during the cooking workshops.Cameroonian speaker Flaure Ngamou cooks with the children and explains the origin, cultivation and preparation of various African foods. On October 27th from 9am to 12pm offer with our Ghanaian speakers, Abena and Kofi Asamoah, 2 courses on: Music and dance from AfricaProfessional musicians and dancers from many African countries offer diverse music and dance classes from their repertoire. The African continent offers an inexhaustible variety of traditional and modern dances and music to discover. Our instructors work with water gourds, djembes, pygmy flutes, recycled instruments, and much more. Where does our chocolate come from? This workshop sheds light on cocoa production, the family life of cocoa farmers and their families, and their daily work on the plantation. The topics of fair trade and the global market are presented in an age-appropriate manner. Cocoa farmers typically cannot afford school fees from their income, even though cocoa is sold in large quantities and at high prices in Europe (e.g., Germany). Hardly any of the children who produce cocoa have ever eaten chocolate. Through short presentations, media, film, and demonstrations of cocoa in its various stages, the plant is introduced in a playful way. The courses take place from 9am to 12pm at the Upsala Family Centre and cost €3.50 per child.

AND THEN,
He'll be back on October 28th, 2017, from 2 pm to 7 pm.
