From 3 p.m., the Family Space is a hive of activity. Most of them are happy to meet each other, some of them have beef. A few news items are quickly exchanged over a snack, and then the workshops begin.

In the workshops, children and young people write their own songs, compose the music and record the songs in the recording studio. They can also create video clips for the songs if they wish. A wide variety of artists help them with this: Singers, rappers, a poetry slammer, a video producer, sound engineers and media educators.

Some of the children don’t even want to do a workshop right now (!) and chat, play and make things during long and short breaks.

And yes, the cell phones are collected or used specifically as tools.

Here are a few impressions

#FameNoGame

Young people work as part of a team. They do the shopping, cook for the whole group and tidy up at the end of the workshop. In this way, they earn a reasonable amount of pocket money.  The younger ones help with cooking, setting the table and clearing up and the young people help the children in the workshops.

All too often, young people are already heavily in debt at the age of 25 because, for example, they did not know that they had to pay health insurance contributions or register their self-employment with the tax office.

To minimize such risks, we also deal with the business side of the music industry. Young people learn about different ways of earning money. From a school job to your own company. The next course for young people will take place on 10.05.25.

The parents, most of whom are single mothers, have also learned how to prepare their adolescents for the world of work.

The next course for young people:

Parents often experience young people sharing discriminatory content, singing and dancing. This also happens again and again during the workshop, e.g. when favorite songs or TikTok idols are introduced.

The team picks up on these moments and opens up a space to discuss ideals of beauty, role assignments, social norms, digital violence, algorithms and fake news.

Parents also meet to strengthen their media skills and develop options for dealing with situations of discrimination against their children.

You can find the next course dates for young people and parents here:

In July, the participants will perform at the Transit Festival and present their songs at the family-friendly festival at Klempenow Castle.
